A Guide To Getting Rid Of Pimples

By Spa guru | July 26, 2009

Acne breakouts are, unfortunately, a situation that most of us have to deal with once in a while. However, there is a vast assortment of treatment options, including: bactericidal, natural acne treatments, and hormonal supplements. Read on for more information to aid you in your search for an effective acne treatment remedy.

A treatment you might be familiar with is the use of a topical bactericidal product. These types of products come in many forms, but they all contain a chemical called Benzoyl Peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is, in essence, a mild form of bleach. It’s an oxidizer which works at dissolving the keratin in the skin, which causes blockage. Topical bactericidals are usually found in the form of a wash or ointment, which is applied to the affected area; however, neither form should be used more than twice a day, as overuse of this type of product can result in dry, irritated skin.

If you’re one who wants to try a more natural or homemade acne treatment, you will be pleased to know that there are a variety of natural remedies that can aid in the treatment of acne. Some of the most popular include Tea Tree Oil and Witch Hazel. Tea tree oil is an anti-bacterial oil produced from the leaves of an Australian shrub called Melaleuca Alternifolia. Just put a bit on a cotton swab and dab at the affected areas. It will leave your skin tingling with a cool, fresh sensation. Witch hazel is a great natural astringent to use even if you have sensitive skin. It’s very soft and won’t strip your skin’s moisture. You can also try other natural oils, such as Bergamot and Lavender oils, which are also natural anti-bacterial drying agents. And for those of you who have oily skin, you can use rosewood oil to reduce the amount of sebum (natural oil) your skin produces.

For women, there is the likelihood that the cause of acne could be hormone-based. Sometimes, women’s hormones are unbalanced, or fluctuate too often and will result in an acne breakout. However, there are ways you can balance out your hormone levels. Birth control is a very popular treatment for acne. As birth control reins the amount of estrogen and progestogen in your body, it stabilizes the hormones and usually results in clearer skin. However, there can be side effects to birth control pills, and you should be aware that you may have to try an assortment of pills before you find one that works for you. Discuss the possibility with your doctor to find out more information.

As you can see, acne treatments of all types exist. However, bactericidals are the most widely used because of their ease of availability and effectiveness. But if you want to try something more easy on your body, there are numerous natural acne remedies available which are becoming increasingly popular. Get rid of your infuriating outbreaks!
