A Home Gym Isn’t Really As Expensive As It Seems

By Spa guru | August 21, 2009

Recently I was working out how much money I actually spend on my gym membership for both me and my wife and I was astonished at the cost. Over the last couple of years I’ve spent over $3000 on gym memberships! I then realized that if we were members at the gym for a full decade that we would spend over $15000 and that’s even if the price doesn’t go up which it likely will!

I then started to think about how much time we waste driving to and from the gym. It takes us 20 minutes to drive to the gym and of course another 20 minutes to drive back. During that travel time of 40 minutes we could easily get a good workout in but instead we’re stuck in the car. And of course this drive is often used as an excuse not to go work out. And of course there’s the gas we burn on the way there and back!

With all things considered it becomes clear that seemingly expensive home gym equipment like the Total Gym XLS is actually a really good deal. Consider this, if I spend $1500 on the Total Gym XLS and I use for 10 full years then I’ve actually saved over $13,000 compared to what I would have spent on a gym memembership for those 10 years!

And with a home gym I no longer have any excuse not to work out so that leads to more working out which of course leads to a higher fitness level. I do my muscle building exercise with my Total Gym XLS and then I rely on my Wii Fit for my cardiovascular exercise. And yes Wii Fit is really a lot of fun, I highly recommend it.

I should mention, while I’m on this topic of fitness, that if you really want to lose weight fast you shouldn’t depend only on exercise. It’s a very good idea to begin a diet plan too. I don’t believe in the idea of only dieting or only doing exercise, you really need to do both. And the diet that I recommend is called The Day Off Diet. It’s so highly recommended because it’s very easy to follow and it will definitely help you to lose weight fast.
