Schultz Autogenic Training Explanation

By Spa guru | March 27, 2010

You would be hard pressed to find someone these days who is not familiar with the concept of stress. Most people have stresses coming from more than once source, pressure from the job and in personal issues can be overwhelming. A German psychiatrist Johannes Schultz developed a relaxation technique called Autogenic Training which has been adapted by a large number of people undergoing worldly problems. As with any type of program that helps relieve stress, dedication is the most important factor to have, and you must follow through with it regularly, not just when you feel like it.

Nothing can be worse than feeling the depression that is caused by the problems of your day to day life. Having a method of leaving problems behind is a blessing for many people. Many different ideas regarding how to escape these problems and find some peace and comfort have come forth in recent years.

Autogenic Training consists of 15 minute sessions, three times a day, which induce a relaxation state. One may find similarities between this system and self-hypnotism in that the participant ‘talks’ themselves into a semi-conscious state in order to leave their cares behind.

The session is practiced while in a certain posture (either laying down, sitting, or standing in a comfortable position), where the person repeats certain phrases several times, and their body abides by the command. For example, the participant may say ‘my (body part of choice) will relax’ and by doing this the body will follow the instructions and relax. One can do this for a number of parts of the body and continue to do so until a complete relaxed state is reached.

There are many modern regimens that are built upon the idea that relaxation that can be obtained by Autogenic Training or Human Touch HT-136 Robotic Massage Chair, can help in relieving acute stress and/or lessen more common aches and pains we all suffer.

The method has been successful for a great number of people, allowing them to find the mental and physical relief they are looking for. The positioning of the body when using this technique has often been compared to Yoga. However, the main thing is that the person using this method to achieve complete relaxation be in a position that is comfortable to them. One of the most popular positions is lying flat on ones back and, starting at the feet, instructing one body part at a time to ‘release’ or ‘let go’ and relax.

This is a technique that is not learned overnight, as it takes a while to reach the desired effect. Allowing your body’s muscles to relax, one muscle at a time, gives you the feeling of releasing all your cares and woes. When achieving this state the mind is able to concentrate on the pleasure of the moment and leave the problems of the world behind.

Many of today’s physical and mental therapists teach their patients to use this technique as it can be done simply and does not take huge period of time. This simple technique is something that is easily taught and can be mastered just as easily. Finding peace in this world of economic and personal tension is the aim of everyone. Some are able to get by without the support of sessions such as Autogenic Training but it is very difficult and this is a very easy way to obtain complete relaxation.
