Steps to control stress.
By Spa guru | December 8, 2009
Count from one to ten.
Mother tells her children thisand is works if they are angry.
Next time you feel stressed or recognise the early signs of it, count to ten. You can do it quietly or speak it out. It does not matter.
Sometimes this is all you need for simple stress or if you recognise it early.
Some people prefer to count down from ten to zero. This way it feels as if you are scaling down stress and at zero, it is gone.
Inhale deeply.
Take a long slow deep breath. Breathe in slowly through your nostril filling your lungs. Hold your breath to the count of four. Then slowly exhale through your mouth.
Repeat a few times and as your breathing becomes slower, a calm and relaxed feeing takes over. Like counting, this is a quick and easy way to reduce your stress level.
In addition, as you breathe in and hold your breath, you create a picture in your mind of all stress slowly diffusing into your lungs and as you exhale, you are slowly expelling the stress for a calmer and more relaxed you.
You can also use a stress relief squeez ball.
Take a walk.
This is a good way to gain stress relief quickly.
If what you are doing is becoming very stressful, get up and walk away from it. I do not mean walk away from it for good. You are removing the problem temporarily. It gives you time to calm down and come to grips with the situation.
By doing this you are removing a stressful problem from the forefront of your mind and allow your Subconscious Mind to find solution options. Stanley Morgan, the eponymous financier, when stuck with a problem and no solution, would suddenly drop what he was doing and play a game of solitaire. It was’nt long before in his mind, several ideas came foward.
A walk in the park is a good idea. Being near to nature is very relaxing. Your body’s frequency synchronises with the earth’s frequency. Your brainwave drops to this frequency for peace and tranquillity. You feel calm and relaxed. You can get the vacuum cleaner out and clean the house. Put the problem out of your mind. When you do this, you will notice a different feeling and approach to your task.
In addition exercise relieves stress.
It is recognised that exercise reduces stress.
Write a Journal or talk to someone.
An excellent stress buster. You are sharing your problem by talking to someone. You may get good tips especially if that someone has experience in your field. It opens your mind to a wider approach to your problem. It may make you aware that you are not alone. You have shared your problem and will not feel isolated.
A single thought or idea that could be the solution to your problem, is perhaps the best stress buster. Suddenly you become energised and focussed because you can now see success as the only outcome. Your stress will changes to the desired stress that produces maximum efficiency.
Writing a journal is good for relieving stress. It highlights the specific items that stress you. Putting it down on paper transfers it into words that you can either keep or discard. It releases the stress. So if you are alone, or there is no one to talk to when things are going wrong, write it down in your stress journal. Ink on paper is the next best thing.
